Art for The Journey is a nonprofit organization that promotes the well-being and healing of children and adults through creative expression, with a special focus on people who otherwise do not have such opportunities available.

It's services include:

• Art instruction to Middle School students at The Carmel School in Glen Ruther, VA
• Summer Camps for children at Independence Golf Club (see schedule below).
• Studio classes for adults 15 and up on Monday afternoon, 1:30 to 4 p.m. at Independence Golf Club in Midlothian, VA and on Tuesday evenings, 6:30 to 9 p.m. at Mark Hierholzer's studio in the West End of Richmond.
• Twice monthly studio classes at the Women's Prison in Goochland, VA
• Weekly studio classes at Lakeside Center, a psycho-social program for people with mental disabilities.
• Monthly plein air workshops for adults 15 and up on the Third Saturday at the Mattie Arts Center in Swan Quarter, NC

Art for The Journey 2015 Summer Camps for Children

Art for The Journey, a nonprofit organization devoted to using artistic expression to support the healthy development and wellbeing of children, youth and adults is offering the following four arts camps this summer for children and youth in their new studio located at Independence Golf Club.

 

These camps will be taught by Stephanie Shanks and Jamie Wigginton, local practicing artists with experience in teaching children and youth. 

 

Seafarers

8-10 year olds

June 8 - 12

9:00am - 12:00pm

Set sail and discover the wild and colorful ocean. Deep sea dive to capture creatures, coral, and sunken treasure with paint, pastels, clay and more! 

Fee: $295 includes all supplies and snacks

On the River

11-14 year olds

June 8 - 12

2:00 - 5:00pm

Cool down and set up an easel on the riverbanks with the French Impressionists. Make unique masterpieces in paint, pastel, clay, and more!
